Real Massage For Real Men

Why Y?

As in much of life, when it comes to massage, men have different needs than women. When I did massage full-time at my home studio, I’d often meet men who wanted a massage but didn’t want to go to a spa where they were made to feel uncomfortable, or where they were asked if they wanted to “add on” an avocado facial. Most men want the basics. We have aches and pains from the work we do, or stress from the life we live. Simple pain relief and stress reduction with no frills is often what is sought, but not obtainable in many spas that cater primarily to women.
When I retired and hit the road, I gave up massage therapy. My van is too small to fit a massage table, and I thought that on a beach or in a desert, trying to duplicate my massage studio experience wasn’t practical. Now that I’m a full-time nomad, I often run into men who have aches and pains, or stress from driving or from the lifestyle they currently live. And even though I don’t have my massage table with me, I’ve found that where there’s a will, there’s a way.
I have learned to do simple hand or foot massages nearly anywhere there is a place to sit comfortably, and to be able to do neck and shoulder massages without needing my massage table. I work on backs, legs and sore chest muscles either in my van, in my small tent, or in the privacy of the client’s own rig. Tell me your needs and we can figure out a way to get you relief.

My Services

If you’ve gotten to this page, it’s because I’ve given you a business card with this website on it. I am happy to offer you all my massage services at no cost. (Although, if you’re pleased with the results, a donation to help put gas in the tank or dog food in Cosmo’s bowl is always appreciated.)
Tell me where it hurts. Where do you carry your stress? We can decide together the best way to eliminate your stress or reduce your pain. You are welcome to come to my van, or if you are nearby and prefer that I work on you in your rig, we can do that as well. Often, with feet, hands, neck etc., we can work in a chair outside if the weather is nice. I also have a small tent that works well in some cases. I
am also trained in Traditional Thai Massage, which is done on the floor or ground on a mat. It entails stretching, traction, and muscle manipulation. Many refer to it as Thai Yoga Massage, because the practitioner (Me) places the client (You) in positions similar to yoga poses in order to stretch out tired, sore muscles, re-align the sen (energy) lines throughout your body, and relieve tension.

About Me…

I graduated from University of Delaware with a B.A. in Psychology. I moved to Los Angeles, and made my living for many years as a freelance photographer. When film went out and digital came in, I decided I wanted to do something in the field of Natural Health. I enrolled in the Master’s Degree Program at Clayton College of Natural Health. While taking a chemistry class, I had to make natural soap as one of my lab projects. Being a vegetarian, I soon discovered that nearly all soap was made from animal fat. I set out to develop a vegetarian recipe, and went down the rabbit hole of soap possibilities, and for 17 years I ran a soap company (The Soap Fairy), selling my handcrafted soaps at my two stores and supplying wholesale accounts around the world.
During the last several years of my soap making career, I kept feeling the call to get back to something closer to Natural Health and the Healing Arts. I soon registered in Massage School, finished the program and passed my Massage Board Exams to become a Licensed Massage Therapist. I worked for a year at different salons and spas, but discovered that massage was often quite biased against men, both as therapists and clients. I decided to start my own massage business, catering to the needs of men. Thus Y Chromosome Massage was born.
